Reverend Melvin I. Graham is a native of Maple Hill, North Carolina.  He is currently residing in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he is pastor of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church.  He serves as a Conference trustee, and treasurer of the Northern District of the North Carolina Conference.

Prior to assuming pastoral leadership of St. Mark, he served as pastor of Wesley Chapel AME and Evans Chapel AME Church, Smithfield, NC.  His first pastoral assignment was St. Stephen AME Church, Scotts’ Hill, NC.

Rev. Graham has been in the ministry for the past 26 years.  He is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Sociology from Barrington University, Alabama.  He also earned a Master of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio.

He serves on many community boards in Nash and Edgecombe County.  He is on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Rocky Mount, NC; coordinator for Prison Fellowship Ministry Angel Tree; Director of Genesis Family Resource Center; Founder and Executive Director of nonprofit HUG, Inc.; Chairman of North Carolina Fatherhood Advisory.  He enjoys working with young people and has been awarded grants to work with juveniles presently in the court systems in Nash/Edgecombe counties. He serves as a mentor in Nash-Rocky Mount public schools.

In addition to his educational and pastoral credentials, he has earned the title of Certified Family Support Service Provider under the authority of the NC Division of Social Services, and Certified Fatherhood Practitioner under the certification authority of the NC Practitioner’s Network for Fathers and Families.   He is listed in the 2005-2006 Edition of the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals, which is registered at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

He is married to the Honorable Judge Saundra Brown-Armstrong and they are the proud parents of four adult children and two grandchildren.
